Who Are the Simcoelandic Autarians?
The Simcoelandic Autarians are an Autarian community who developed in Simcoe County, Ontario. We are a Neurocultural community, who seeks to transcend our Autistic experience from a simple DSM diagnosis and "disability" and develop our culture out of it.
Neuroculturalism: The Next Step
Neurocultural communities evolve from the current train of thought in Autistic and Neurodivergent circles. We view Neuroculturalism as the next step. Not only can we develop our own communities and identities like Neurodiversity has done, but can see culture, and togetherness, and a homeland through Neuroculturalism.
Our Core Beliefs and Ethos
Our belief, and our morals and ethos in Neuroculturalism, as Autarians, is this:
- We know that we're not broken — however if we want the world to believe us, we need to simply build community to be able to prove ourselves to the world that we can be who we want to be
- If the Government cannot come to the rescue, we come to rescue ourselves
- We believe the only path and the best path to social and cultural legitimacy in this country, is to position ourselves as part of Canada's lovely multicultural mosaic
- Autarian culture is both the neurocultural aspects, what our brains made us, what Autism makes us, mixed in with culture from our home counties and regions, and if we wish, the culture of any "old countries" we come from. An Autarian isn't a monolith. An Autarian can be a Simcoelandic Autarian of any background—Scottish, Irish, Cree, Anishnaabe, any culture. Autarian culture develops out of a fusion of those various identities, cultures and concepts each one of us brings to the table, as is our ideas, our politics, views on religion, and our contributions we wish to make socially, culturally and technically.
Our Homeland: Simcoe County
The Simcoelandic Autarians' homeland is Simcoe County, Ontario. Our county is as beautiful and bountiful as some countries are.
Geographic Diversity
- The best farmland in Canada in the south
- The mountainous Niagara Escarpment in the West
- The southern end of the Canadian Shield in the east
- South shore of Georgian Bay
- Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching
Our Cities and Towns
- Barrie, Orillia, Midland, Penetanguishene
- Collingwood, Bradford, and Alliston

As Autarians, we love this county, and wish to build our lives here. There is so much natural, technical and social and cultural wealth here that we don't need to commute to Toronto for more.
We believe Simcoe County has so much potential, and so much ability to make change and make lives better not just for us, but for our neighbours, friends and communities, everyone.
That's why we're Simcoelandic Autarians, and why we call Simcoe County home. We are as part of the County's mosaic as everyone else is, and we will share with them as much as they share with us.
Spreading Neuroculturalism
We wish for Neuroculturalism to spread outside of the borders of Simcoe County, and will gladly assist other Counties and Regions in the starting of their own Autarian movements.
We Offer:
- Technical assistance and support
- Cultural guidance and brother-to-brother assistance
- We will travel to your county to make it happen
- Technical papers we've written that we can share and help implement
- In some cases, we already have flags and colours to offer you
If you're interested in starting an Autarian movement in your county or region, we're here to help you build your own Neurocultural community.
